Children's Activities - Tractor Tours
Among the most popular children's holiday activities for visitors to Blair Castle are our tractor tours.
If you want to know more about Atholl Estates and the work we do, you can explore the surrounding landscape on a 90-minute vintage tractor and trailer ride. Coasting along at a leisurely pace, you’ll visit parts of the castle grounds that many visitors never get to see, including farmland, woodland and the maze of estate tracks.
Guided by our former head keeper, who has over 40 years of service on the estate, you will be given a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how we manage the grounds.
You will hear about how we converted to organic farming a few years ago, which led to the forming of a meat home delivery business in co-operation with our tenant farmers.
You'll be able to find out more about how we manage our woodlands to provide a financial return while maintaining an important habitat and landscape, and you will also be given an insight into the preparation for our major international horse trials.
This event takes place over the last bank holiday weekend in August, yet take most of the year for our small event team to organise.
The tractor tours are one of many children's holiday activities at Atholl Estates that adults are also sure to enjoy.
The Blair Castle Grounds
The land around Blair Castle is in a constant state of change as the seasons come and go, and with these changes come a different scene and a different story for our guide to relate.
Whether your tour is during the spring when the lambs and calves are frolicking around their mothers in the fields, or during the late summer when we take in the grass harvest and prepare for winter, there's always something new to see during a tractor tour.
Wildlife and farm animals are sure to make an appearance en route, and the tour offers many opportunities to see red deer, birds of prey soaring over head, Highland ponies, sheep and of course our herd of cows.
A fun and educational chidlren's holiday activity, this tour is a great way to discover more of the estate.
